Christian Inspirational Comforting Scripture Wall Calendar by Suzanne Davis Harden
Have you ever thought of the Bible as God’s Promise Box and all of the verses inside as the beautiful jewels He has given us as something precious to treasure, guard, and keep?
King David wrote in Psalm 103:2; “Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits...”
The word forget is interesting. It means “...to forget, ignore, wither... to cease to care, to cause to forget...”
What are some of the promises of God that David wants NOT to forget?
“God forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.” ~ -Psalm 103:3-5 KJV
As someone who experiences daily migraines it would be all too easy
“...to wither, forget, ignore, and cease to care” about the wondrous promises and unfathomable love of God if I did not choose to find ways to keep His Word always before me.
For His Word reveals that my faith in God grows as I read, study, and meditate on His Word: “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17 God’s Word reminds me to be thankful for all of His blessings and to meditate on what is good.
“Brothers and sisters, continue to think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.” ~ Philippians 4:8 ERV
God’s word assures me when I’m in the depths of despair, pain, and discouragement that God will finish what He started in me.
“I am sure that the good work God began in you will continue until he completes it on the day when Jesus Christ comes again.” Philippians 1:6 ERV
Through clinging to God’s Word in all my trials I have learned that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the grace of God in Him are far greater than all the darkness and pain this world can throw at me.
God’s promises are real and He has never forsaken me.
His Word assures me that He never will.
God’s word is His Promise Box. Each verse is our jewel from Him.
If we tuck His jewels in our heart we will be able to bring them out whenever discouragement and doubts come knocking.
For no matter how dark things get, God’s promises will hold us up if we believe and keep on believing, and never give up or give in to hopelessness, fear, or pain.
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. When I cry unto Thee, then shall mine enemies turn back… This I know; for God is for me. In God will I praise His word: in the Lord will I praise His word. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.” ~ Psalm 56:3,4,9-11 KJV
