Major's Bay Encouraging Card
This encouraging card features a print of an oil painting I did several years ago for my husband.
We had traveled with my sister and her husband to St. Kitts one winter to escape the cold.
While the three of them snorkeled in the beautiful calm waters of the Caribbean, I chose to sit on the shore and sketch the abandoned boat tied up beside the mountains.
That spot was so peaceful; it was called Major's Bay.
I marveled at the brilliant colors of the sea, sky and mountains, as the gulls sang all around me.
The pungent smell of the water filled the air, gentle waves lapped around my feet while I sketched my picture.
I remembered all of these things when I came home and painted the scene in oils on masonite panel from my sketches and photos.
A couple of years later I had to have a surgical procedure and the nurse wanted me to relax by having me focus on some beautiful memory.
It was my memory of Major's Bay that comforted and calmed me so much that all the medical staff were amazed at how peaceful I became.
On the back of this Encouraging Card are comforting verses from Psalm 121:1-3,5-8. (King James Version Bible)
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber."
"The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."
