What do God’s Holy Angels represent in Scripture?
The Bible says that God’s holy angels exist to hear His voice and to do whatever He wants them to.
“Praise the Lord, all His angels of great strength, who do His word, obedient to His command. Praise the Lord, all His armies, His servants who do His will.” Psalms 103:20-21 HCSB
Revelations 4 tells us that God created everything because He wanted to.
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4:11 KJV
On the night Christ was born on the first Christmas the Heavenly Host of Angels sang glory and praise to the Almighty for the great gift He was giving to the world in sending His Son Jesus Christ to be our Redeemer.
When Jesus grew up He told a man named Nicodemus the reason why God sent Him to the earth.
Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 KJV
People who believe that Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross to pay the penalty God required for their sins are redeemed, or given the righteousness of Christ who is holy, because He is the perfect Son of God.
They are no longer considered guilty of any sins before God and can be forgiven of all their trespasses against Him.
When they die their souls are given eternal life in Paradise where they will be forever free from pain and sorrow.
This gift of redemption through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God is why God’s Holy Angels were praising the Lord on the first Christmas.
God’s great gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ for all humanity is indeed a great cause for rejoicing and thanksgiving to our Creator, our wondrous God of love.
