It features a father and his young son out on a peaceful farm pond on a beautiful warm summer afternoon. Their dog is laying quietly at their feet as the two enjoy fishing together. The scene depicts a precious moment in time in the lives of a father and son that will become a beautiful memory to be treasured in their hearts forever.
The scene reminds us that our children are only young once; all too soon they grow up and those brief seasons on the lakes of childhood fishing in the moments when time seems to stand still are gone forever.

The models for this painting were my husband and son. I am so glad I was privileged to be with them for one of their fishing adventures so that I could witness their joy in fishing together. Their pure delight in just being with each other was the one thing I most wanted to capture.
As I meditate on this painting I think of our Heavenly Father and His Son and their beautiful relationship as revealed in the scriptures and I realize that the relationship of a father and son on earth are meant to mirror that divine relationship of mutual love and affection.
I am so grateful that I saw that precious relationship reflected in my husband and son and still see it today.
How did my husband achieve that relationship with our son? He was always there for him, listened to him, prayed with him and for him~and our daughter as well. I believe prayer binds people's hearts together like nothing else.
It is never too late to start praying for yourself or for your children and praying with them ~no matter what their age. God is always listening to our prayers. He is especially attentive to the prayers of parents for their children.
